Reigning Aryna Sabalenka Secures Back-to-Back WTA Top Player Awards.
World number one Aryna Sabalenka has been voted the Women's Tennis Association player of the year for a second straight year.
The twenty-seven-year-old won four tournament victories – the most on tour – including successfully defending the US Open in September versus Amanda Anisimova to earn her fourth Grand Slam singles triumph.
A Season of High Performance
Throughout the year, Sabalenka played in a circuit-leading nine finals, with losses coming against Madison Keys in the Australian Open final at the start of the year and Coco Gauff in the French Open final.
The star player also claimed victory at the Brisbane International early in the season, the Miami Open in March, and the Madrid Open in May. She spent the whole season as the world number one, concluding 2025 atop the rankings for a second straight year.
In July, she became the first player to top 12,000 WTA ranking points after Serena Williams in 2015.
Record-Breaking Statistics
Sabalenka ended the season with a 63-12 win-loss record, and collected a historic eleven million pounds in earnings.
She received nearly eighty percent of the votes cast by international tennis media.
On 28 December, she is scheduled to face 2022 Wimbledon finalist Nick Kyrgios in a Battle of the Sexes-style exhibition match with the aim of "raise women's tennis to a higher level".
Additional WTA Award Honorees
- Comeback Player of the Year: Switzerland's Belinda Bencic, 28, received the award after taking extended hiatus following the birth of her first child and making her comeback to the sport earlier this season.
- Newcomer of the Year: Canadian teenager Victoria Mboko picked up the award after beginning the season positioned beyond the world's top 300 and rising to the eighteenth spot.
- Partnership of the Year: Katerina Siniakova and Taylor Townsend were voted after capturing their second Grand Slam title as a pair.
- Most Improved Player of the Year: Amanda Anisimova received the accolade after making five championship matches.
Recently, Carlos Alcaraz secured three awards in the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) Awards, which included the season-ending top rank award, while Jannik Sinner was voted fans' favourite for a third consecutive time.
